Eco rugs and carpets

 In 2010, Machanents House embarked on the implementation of a new idea. Eco carpets workshop was established. Eco carpet is an ecologically clean carpet made of natural sheep wool without the use of dyes. The wool for the eco-carpet was purchased mainly from Gegharkunik and Shirak regions. The process of obtaining wool thread was done by traditional methods at home. Later, the resulting thread was sent to Austria, where laboratory studies revealed that the sheep wool grown in those areas contains a large amount of lanolin, which has useful properties. The carpet sketches were mainly based on Armenian rock paintings and sketches taken from churches. The rugs were exhibited in sales, and the proceeds from the sales were used to create new rugs.  Shop now →
